TRY Golf U7

Welcome to the "TRY Golf U7" program, designed to introduce beginners to the game at a foundational level. If your child has never golfed before or has minimal experience (like the driving range, mini putt, etc) then this is the place for them!! This program offers a fun and engaging environment for skill and confidence building.

Participants will enjoy team-based games that focus on developing essential golf techniques such as putting, chipping, pitching, and full swings. Our expert instructors will cover the basics of a proper setup, including grip, stance, and posture, while emphasizing balance and movement.

In addition to honing golf skills, we provide an overview of the game itself, including simple rules and common etiquette. Our goal is to enhance kids' fitness and coordination in a safe and enjoyable setting. Join us for a modern and dynamic approach to introducing your child to the world of golf!

To progress to the "TRY Golf U9/U13" level, children should showcase a solid grasp of fundamental elements like grip, stance, and posture, along with a commendable proficiency in putting, chipping, and full swings. We want to make sure they've got a good overall grasp of the game before they level up. This way, we can keep building their golf skills in a fun and progressive manner.

2025 TRY Golf U7 Program Specifics

* 11 week program, one 40 minute lesson each week
* Week 1: Monday, June 2nd to Sunday, June 8th
* Week 11: Monday, August 18th to Sunday, August 24th
* BREAK WEEK: All sessions will take a break from Monday, July 21st to Sunday, July 27th
* One age division to ensure kids are learning with players of similar age and ability:
- U7 (2019/2020) *Kids must be 5 years old on May 1st to participate.
**NOTE: If your child was born in 2018 and is not ready for TRY Golf U9 (twice a week including playing par 3 holes), please register them in U7.
* Every player receives a Sawmill Junior Golf hat
* The player to coach ratio is 8:1 (with junior members and parent volunteers assisting)
* Lessons take place on the driving range, short game practice area or putting green (schedule will be posted at the entrance/parking area)
* The following coaches will provide professional instruction for TRY GOLF U7:
**Brody Whetham, PGA of Canada Class A Professional and a Master Kids Coach with US Kids Golf. Brody has 23 years of teaching experience and is one of Niagara's leading junior golf coaches. Brody is a US Kids Golf Certified Coach (uskidsgolf.com)
**Kevin Niznik, PGA of Canada Class A Professional and a 4 time Alberta PGA Junior Leader Finalist. Kevin has been teaching for 18 years and is a US Kids Golf Certified Coach (uskidsgolf.com).
**Mason Hildebrandt, PGA Community Coach Certified. Mason will qualify for the PGA of Canada Professional program in 2025. He has experience coaching in Sawmill's summer and adult programs under the leadership of Brody and Kevin. We are extremely confident in Mason's coaching ability and know he has a bright future ahead of him.

2025 TRY Golf U7 Registration Details

- ALL players (new and returning) can register on Monday February 3rd at 8am. The registration link will be posted HERE.

- Registrations will be received on a first come, first serve basis.
- You will receive an automated confirmation email upon successfully registering.
- Your child’s first name and last initial (eg. Billy S) will be posted next to the session that you signed up for. *The website will be updated as quickly as possible. Please don’t send an email within minutes of registering if you don’t see your child’s name!

2025 Junior Fitting Day

~ Saturday, March 29th TRY Golf U7 9am to 10pm (in the clubhouse)
~ pick up your hat (included in registration) and check out golf gloves, golf shoes, and kids clothing
~ Check out new and used US Kids Golf clubs for sale
~ Get properly fit for US Kids Golf clubs
~ Junior apparel, hats, and shoes available
